Air bag warning labels are placed in the Kia Sportage to alert occupants to potential risks associated with the air bag system.
Government warnings often focus on risks to children. Adults should also understand the air bag hazards described in the preceding sections.
WARNING
Never place a rear-facing child restraint on the front passenger seat unless the passenger air bag has been deactivated. An inflating air bag could strike the restraint and cause the child to be killed.
Extreme hazard: Never use a rear-facing child restraint on a seat protected by an air bag in front of it.
Never place a child restraint on the front passenger seat. If the front passenger air bag inflates, it could cause serious or fatal injuries.
Never use a rear-facing child restraint on a seat protected by an active air bag. The child could suffer fatal or serious injuries.
When a child is seated in a rear outer seat in a vehicle with side and/or curtain air bags, position the child restraint as far from the door as possible and secure it firmly in place. Deploying side or curtain air bags could seriously injure or kill an infant or child.
NOTE
If equipped with a rollover sensor
If the Kia Sportage has side or curtain air bags, they inflate in a detected rollover to help protect occupants from serious physical injury.
The side and/or curtain air bags may deploy when the rollover sensor detects a rollover situation.
