Operation
Press the button for the required action:
Button (3): lock the doors.
Button (2): unlock the doors.
TIP
When all doors are locked, the door indicator light (1) on the driver’s door illuminates. It turns off if any door is unlocked.
If any door is open, pressing the central door lock switch will not lock the doors.
WARNING
Keep all doors fully closed and locked while driving to help prevent them from opening accidentally. Locked doors can also discourage potential intruders when the Kia Sportage is stopped or moving slowly.
Before opening a door, check for approaching vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians. Opening a door into someone’s path may cause an accident, vehicle damage or serious injury.
Leaving the vehicle unlocked increases the risk of theft or other harm, including someone hiding inside while you are away. Before leaving the Kia Sportage unattended, remove the ignition key or switch the ENGINE START/STOP button off, apply the parking brake, close all windows and lock every door.
Unattended children, older people or pets
The inside of a closed vehicle can become extremely hot. Children, older people or pets who cannot leave on their own may suffer heatstroke, severe injury or death. Make sure they stay hydrated and are not exposed to direct sunlight through the windscreen. Children may also operate vehicle controls and injure themselves, or be harmed if someone enters the vehicle. Never leave children or animals unattended in the vehicle.
