Kia Sportage: Surround View Monitor Malfunction and Limitations
Surround View Monitor Malfunction
If the Surround View Monitor malfunctions, its display may appear green, blue, grey, or black.
If the Surround View Monitor does not operate correctly, the screen flickers, or the camera image appears abnormal,
Kia recommends having the Kia Sportage inspected by an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.
Limitations of Surround View Monitor
- If the Kia Sportage remains stationary for an extended time in winter, or is parked in an indoor car park, exhaust
fumes may temporarily blur the camera image.
- The display may appear abnormal and an icon may appear in the upper-left corner of the screen in any of these
situations:
- The tailgate is open.
- The driver’s door or front passenger door is open.
- An outside rear-view mirror is folded.
WARNING
- Before moving the vehicle, always look around the Kia Sportage and check for people, objects, and obstacles. The
image on the screen may not show the vehicle’s position or surroundings exactly as they are in reality.
- The distance to an object shown on the screen may differ from its actual distance. The Surround View Monitor image
is calibrated from the wide-rear-view camera, so the displayed perspective may not correspond exactly to what you
see around the vehicle. If cargo causes the vehicle to tilt, the rear parking guidelines may also be inaccurate.
Check the area around the vehicle directly before manoeuvring.
- The Surround View Monitor is designed for use on a flat surface. On roads with changes in height, such as kerbs or
speed bumps, the image may not appear accurate.
- Keep the camera lenses clean, as dirt or other foreign material can affect camera performance and prevent the
Surround View Monitor from working normally. Do not clean a lens with chemical solvents, including strong alkaline
detergents or volatile organic solvents such as petrol or acetone, because they may damage it.
- Driving with the tailgate open is not recommended. If you must do so, take particular care to maintain safety.
