Kia Sportage: Used Vehicle and Digital Key 2 Maintenance. System LimitationsPurchasing a Used Vehicle
When you buy a used Kia Sportage, delete any smartphone and card keys (if equipped) registered by the previous owner. Tell an authorised Kia dealer or service partner that you have purchased a used vehicle so they can advise you about the digital key setup. Check that any card key supplied with the vehicle works correctly. If it does not, delete the registered card key, register your smartphone key, and then register the card key again if required.
Digital Key 2 Maintenance
If the Digital Key 2 system needs repair or replacement, its registered smartphone or card key (if equipped) may be deleted, depending on the work being carried out. You may need to register the key again after service.
Digital Key 2 may not operate in any of the following situations:
The smartphone battery or vehicle battery is discharged.
NFC or Bluetooth is disabled in the smartphone settings.
A credit card is placed against the back of the smartphone, or the phone is fitted with a metal or unusually thick case.
The card key (if equipped) is used together with other cards or kept inside a wallet or card holder.
Electronic interference from another vehicle or nearby object disrupts communication.
A metallic phone cover or another communication device attached to the smartphone interferes with NFC communication. If Digital Key 2 does not work, remove the attached cover or device and try again.
The smartphone may not control the vehicle while any of the following is in use:
Essential smartphone functions, such as a regular or emergency call, audio playback or NFC payment.
Wireless earphones during a regular call, emergency call or audio playback.
The smartphone manufacturer’s default settings or app-priority policy restricts the Digital Key 2 app from operating.
