Kia Sportage: Advantages of 4WDHelps improve stability when driving in a straight line.
Can enhance vehicle control while cornering.
Supports mobility in demanding conditions, including snow, rain and sand.
WARNING
The mild hybrid system displays information about energy flow in different operating modes. When driving uphill or downhill, select D (Drive) to travel forward or R (Reverse) to travel backwards. Before moving, confirm that the selected gear shown on the instrument cluster matches your intended direction.
Driving in the opposite direction to the selected gear may cause the engine to stop and affect braking performance, creating a dangerous situation.
The Kia Sportage is designed primarily for on-road driving, although it can also handle some off-road use. It is not designed for demanding off-road conditions. Driving beyond the vehicle’s intended capabilities or your own experience may result in serious injury or death.
If the AWD warning light
remains illuminated, the AWD system may
have a fault. Have the vehicle inspected by a professional workshop. Kia recommends contacting an authorised Kia
dealer or service partner.
To reduce the risk of serious injury or death:
Do not drive beyond the vehicle’s intended capabilities, including in demanding off-road conditions.
Reduce speed before cornering or turning; avoid taking bends at high speed.
Avoid sudden steering inputs, such as abrupt lane changes or fast, sharp turns.
Losing control at highway speeds greatly increases the risk of a rollover.
Loss of control can occur if two or more wheels leave the roadway and the driver oversteers while attempting to return to the road.
If the Kia Sportage leaves the roadway, do not steer sharply back into traffic. Slow down first, then return to the travel lanes when it is safe to do so.
CAUTION
Use Drive Mode when travelling on ordinary roads in normal conditions.
Using 4WD Lock Mode on normal roads may damage the 4WD system and cause mechanical vibration or noise.
Minor mechanical vibration or noise may occur when driving in 4WD Lock Mode on ordinary roads, particularly while cornering. This is normal and does not indicate a malfunction. The vibration or noise should stop when 4WD Lock Mode is disengaged.
A slight shock may be felt when 4WD Lock Mode is switched off. This is normal and lasts until the traction forces between the front and rear wheels have been released.
