Kia Sportage: Automatic Reversal of the Power Windows (If Equipped). Power Window Lock ButtonOperation
If the system detects resistance, the window stops and moves down approximately 30 cm (12 inches).
In some conditions, the window moves down approximately 2.5 cm (1 inch).
Operating Conditions
An object or part of the body is detected in the window’s path.
The system detects force against the window.
WARNING
Check for obstructions before raising a window to help prevent injury or vehicle damage. If an object less than 4 mm (0.16 inch) in diameter is caught between the glass and the upper window channel, the automatic reversal system may not detect the resistance. The window may not stop or reverse.
Automatic reversal is disabled while the power window system is being reset. Before closing a window during this procedure, make sure that people and objects are clear of its path.
NOTE
Automatic reversal works only when you raise the window by pulling the switch fully up to use the “auto up” function. It does not operate when you raise the window by pulling the switch to its halfway position.

Operation
Press the power window lock button to disable the rear passenger window switches.
Rear passengers cannot operate their power windows while the lock is engaged.
The driver and front passenger can still operate their windows using the front switches.
WARNING
Never leave the keys in the Kia Sportage with children who are unsupervised, particularly while the engine is running.
Never leave a child unattended in the vehicle. Even a young child could unintentionally move the vehicle, become trapped in a window or otherwise injure themselves or someone else.
Before closing a window, check that everyone’s arms, hands, head and other objects are clear of its path.
Do not let children play with the power windows. Keep the driver’s door power window lock button pressed in the
LOCK position to prevent a child from operating the windows accidentally and suffering serious
injury.
Do not put your head or limbs outside a window while the vehicle is moving.
CAUTION
To help protect the power window system and its fuse, do not open or close two or more windows at the same time.
Do not operate the driver’s main window switch and an individual door switch in opposite directions at the same time. If you do, the window may stop and become unable to open or close.
