If the Kia Sportage is equipped with automatic window up/down and the safety window function, you can operate the corresponding windows remotely even when the engine is off.
Operation
Press and hold the door lock button (1) on the smart key to close the windows. They continue moving up while you hold the button.
Press and hold the door unlock button (2) on the smart key to open the windows. They continue moving down while you hold the button.
You can enable or disable remote window operation in the Settings menu.
WARNING
Do not install accessories in the window area, as they may interfere with jam protection.
Check for obstructions before raising a window to help prevent injury or vehicle damage. If an object less than 4 mm (0.16 inches) in diameter becomes trapped between the glass and the upper window channel, automatic reversal may not detect it, and the window may not stop or reverse.
Automatic reversal is disabled while the power window system is being reset. Keep people and objects clear of the windows before closing them during this procedure.
Never leave the keys in the Kia Sportage with children who are unsupervised while the vehicle is running.
Never leave a child unattended in the vehicle. A child could unintentionally move the vehicle, become trapped in a window or injure themselves or someone else.
Before closing a window, make sure everyone’s arms, hands, head and other objects are safely clear of its path.
Do not let children play with the power windows. Keep the driver’s door power window lock button pressed in the
LOCK position to prevent accidental operation that could cause serious injury.
Do not put your head or limbs outside a window while the vehicle is moving.
Before closing windows remotely, check that people and objects are clear of them to avoid injury or vehicle damage.
CAUTION
To help protect the power window system and its fuse, do not open or close two or more windows at the same time.
Do not operate the driver’s main window switch and an individual door switch in opposite directions at the same time. The window may stop and become unable to open or close.
NOTE
Driving with the rear windows lowered or the sunroof (if equipped) open or partly open may create wind buffeting or a pulsing noise. This is normal and can often be reduced by lowering both front windows by approximately 2.5 cm (1 inch) if one or both rear windows are open. If the noise occurs with the sunroof open, reduce the opening slightly.
In cold, wet weather, freezing conditions may prevent the power windows from operating correctly.
Automatic reversal works only when the window is raised using the “auto up” function by pulling the switch fully up. It does not operate when you raise the window by pulling the switch to its halfway position.
