Kia Sportage: Driver Attention Warning operation
The main function of Driver Attention Warning (DAW) is to monitor driving patterns and suggest a break when the system assesses that the driver’s attention has fallen below a certain level.

A: Consider taking a break |
If DAW assesses that the driver’s attention is below a certain level, the Inattentive Warning Light (
) flashes, a message appears on the instrument cluster and an
audible alert sounds to recommend a break.
DAW does not recommend a break if the total driving time is less than four minutes, or if four minutes have not passed since its previous break recommendation.
WARNING
For your safety, change DAW settings only after parking the Kia Sportage in a safe location.
CAUTION
DAW may recommend a break based on your driving pattern or habits, even if you do not feel tired.
DAW is an assistance function and may not accurately determine whether the driver is inattentive.
If you feel fatigued, take a break at a safe location even when DAW has not issued a recommendation.

A: Leading vehicle is moving off |
When DAW detects that the vehicle ahead has moved off from a stop, Leading Vehicle Departure Alert displays a message on the instrument cluster and sounds an audible warning.
WARNING
If another function displays a warning message or sounds an alert at the same time, the Leading Vehicle Departure Alert message or audible warning may not be shown or heard.
The driver remains responsible for safely driving and controlling the vehicle.
CAUTION
Leading Vehicle Departure Alert is an assistance function and may not notify you every time the vehicle ahead moves off.
Before moving off, check the road and the area in front of the Kia Sportage.
NOTE
The appearance and colours of instrument cluster graphics may vary according to the cluster type or the selected theme.
Tires and wheels
CAUTION
When replacing tires, use the same size originally supplied with the vehicle.
Using tires of a different size can damage the related parts or make it work irregularly.
