Snow, rain or other foreign material covering the windscreen in front of the front view camera, the front radar cover, the bumper or a sensor can reduce detection performance. Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist may then be temporarily limited or disabled.
When this happens, a warning message may appear together with the Forward Safety warning light
, the Emergency
Steering warning light
and the Master Warning light
on the
instrument cluster.
Once snow, rain or other material has been cleared, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist should be able to operate properly again.
If the system does not resume normal operation after the obstruction has been removed, have your Kia Sportage inspected by an authorised Kia dealer or service partner. This also applies if equipment such as a trailer or carrier has been removed from the rear bumper and the system still does not work correctly.
WARNING
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist may not operate correctly even if no warning message or warning light appears on the instrument cluster.
The system may not work correctly after the vehicle is switched on in an area with little or nothing to detect, such as open terrain, or if a detecting sensor is covered by foreign material.
Restarting the vehicle does not guarantee that Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist will work properly while an obstruction or malfunction remains.
NOTE
You can review this information in the service message within the cluster display’s Utility view.
