Kia Sportage: Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist settings
|
|
With the Kia Sportage switched on, open Setup > Vehicle > Driver Assistance > Driving Safety on the infotainment screen. From this menu, you can change when Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist first warns you of a potential collision.
Forward Safety: When selected, the system can provide a collision warning or emergency braking
if a collision appears imminent. If you turn this setting off, Forward Safety is disabled and its warning light
appears on the instrument
cluster.
|
|
With the vehicle switched on, select Setup > Vehicle > Driver Assistance > Driving Safety > Forward Cross-Traffic Safety on the infotainment screen. Select the option to enable Junction Crossing, or deselect it to switch the function off.
|
|
With the vehicle switched on, open Setup > Vehicle > Driver Assistance > Driving Safety > Forward/Side Safety on the infotainment screen.
Forward/Side Safety: If a collision appears imminent, the system can warn you or provide
steering assistance. If you turn this setting off, Forward/Side Safety is disabled and the Emergency Steering
warning light
appears on the instrument
cluster.
You can check whether Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist is on or off in the Settings menu. If the Forward Safety
warning light
or Emergency Steering warning light
remains illuminated while Forward
Safety or Forward/Side Safety is selected, have the system inspected by a professional workshop. Kia recommends
contacting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.
WARNING
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist switches on automatically whenever the vehicle is restarted. If you switch it off in the settings, the system cannot provide assistance. Continue to drive carefully and do not rely on this feature alone.
CAUTION
Forward Safety settings cover the Basic function, Junction Turning function and Direct Oncoming function. Forward Cross-Traffic Safety controls the Junction Crossing function, if equipped. Forward/Side Safety covers the Lane-Change Oncoming function, Lane-Change Side function and Evasive Steering Assist function, if equipped.
If Forward Safety is switched off, Junction Crossing will not operate, even if Forward Cross-Traffic Safety and Forward/Side Safety are selected. This applies to vehicles equipped with the function.
You can switch steering-wheel vibration on or off, if equipped.
When a trailer connector is plugged into the vehicle, Forward/Side Safety automatically switches off. The system cannot assist you through this function while it is inactive, so take extra care when driving. This applies when a genuine Kia Trailer Kit capable of detecting a connected trailer is used.
|
|
With the vehicle switched on, select Setup > Vehicle > Driver Assistance > Driving Safety > Forward Safety Warning Timing on the infotainment screen to adjust when Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist first warns you of a potential collision.
Standard: Use this timing for typical driving conditions. If the warning feels too sensitive, select Late.
Late: The system provides its warning later than it does with the Standard setting.
CAUTION
Even with Standard selected, a warning may seem late if the vehicle ahead stops suddenly.
Consider selecting Late when traffic is light and you are travelling at a low speed.
TIP
Forward/Side Safety does not offer a warning-timing setting.
The Kia Sportage retains the last Forward Safety Warning Timing setting after the vehicle is restarted.
|
|
You can adjust the warning method while the Kia Sportage is switched on. In the infotainment settings, select Setup > Vehicle > Driver Assistance > Warning Method to configure these options:
Warning Volume: Sets the volume of warning sounds.
Haptic Warning: Switches steering-wheel vibration warnings on or off, if equipped.
Driving Safety Priority: Lowers the volume of other audio when a Driving Safety system issues a warning.
NOTE
A change to the Warning Method may apply to individual driver assistance functions. Check and adjust the setting in each function where necessary.
The last Warning Method setting is retained when the vehicle is restarted.
Some settings may not be available, depending on the vehicle specification.
