Operation

ACC (Accessory)
Electrical accessories can be used.
ON
The vehicle’s warning lights can be checked.
START
Turn the ignition switch to start the engine. The brake warning light can also be checked.
WARNING
Never turn the ignition switch to LOCK or ACC while the Kia Sportage is moving. This may disable steering control and braking assistance, increasing the risk of an accident.
Do not attach a small purse, several keys or other heavy accessories to the key used to start the vehicle. Their weight may cause the key to shift accidentally to ACC while driving, increasing the risk of an accident and disabling some safety features.
To prevent unexpected vehicle movement, do not leave the driver’s seat unless the transmission is in P (Park) and the parking brake is firmly applied. Before getting out, select P (Park), apply the parking brake fully and switch off the engine.

Never reach through the steering wheel to operate the ignition switch or another control while the vehicle is moving. Your arm or hand could interfere with steering and cause loss of control, an accident or serious injury.
Keep loose objects away from the driver’s seat area. They may interfere with driving or affect your ability to operate the pedals.
NOTE
Leaving the ignition switch in ACC or ON for an extended period may discharge the battery.
