Kia Sportage: Outside rearview mirror
|
Operation
Move the outside rearview mirror selector (2) to choose the left or right mirror on your Kia Sportage.
Use the mirror adjustment control (1) to position the selected mirror.
WARNING
The outside rearview mirrors are convex, so objects reflected in them appear farther away than they really are.
When changing lanes, use the inside rearview mirror or look directly to judge the actual distance of vehicles behind you.
Do not adjust or fold the outside mirrors while driving. Doing so could cause you to lose control and lead to a collision, serious injury, death or property damage.
CAUTION
Do not scrape ice from the mirror glass, as this can damage its surface. If ice prevents the mirror from moving, do not force it. Use de-icer spray, or remove the ice with a sponge or soft cloth and warm water.
If ice has jammed the mirror mechanism, do not force the mirror to move. Apply an approved spray de-icer, not radiator antifreeze, or move the Kia Sportage to a warm place and allow the ice to melt.
The mirrors stop moving when they reach their adjustment limits, but the motor continues to run while the switch is pressed. Release the switch as soon as the mirror reaches the desired position to avoid damaging the motor.
Do not adjust the outside rearview mirrors by hand. This may damage their components.

Do not adjust the outside rearview mirrors by hand. This may damage their components.
Electric outside mirrors can be adjusted even when the vehicle is in the OFF position. To avoid
unnecessary battery discharge, do not adjust them longer than needed while the vehicle is switched off.
If your Kia Sportage has electric outside mirrors, do not fold them by hand. This could damage the motor.
When you shift into R (Reverse), the outside rearview mirror or mirrors tilt downward to help you see the area beside and behind the Kia Sportage while reversing.
|
The outside rearview mirror selector (1) determines whether the mirrors tilt when reverse is selected:
Left/Right: If either L (Left) or R (Right) is selected, both outside rearview mirrors tilt downward.
Neutral: If neither side is selected, the outside rearview mirrors do not move.
The mirrors automatically return to their original positions when any of the following occurs:
The ignition switch or ENGINE START/STOP button is moved to LOCK/OFF or
ACC.
You shift to any gear position other than R (Reverse).
The outside rearview mirror selector is moved to the neutral position.
Auto reverse user settings
If the factory-set mirror angles do not provide enough visibility when reversing, you can adjust and save the angles of the outside rearview mirrors.
The factory settings for the left and right mirrors may differ to provide suitable visibility on each side.
With the Kia Sportage stopped, select P (Park). Make sure the mirrors are not moving.
Move the selector to L (Left) or R (Right) to choose the mirror you want to adjust.
Press the brake pedal and shift into R (Reverse).
Wait until the mirror has finished tilting down. Then use the up, down, left and right adjustment controls to set the angle you want.
To save the new angle, shift to a position other than R (Reverse) or move the mirror selector to neutral. The setting is stored when the mirror finishes returning to its original position.
Repeat steps 1–5 to adjust and save the mirror on the other side.
How to initialise Auto reverse user settings
To restore the automatic mirror control to its factory-default settings, follow the procedure below in order.
With the vehicle stopped, select P (Park) and make sure the mirror is not moving.
Choose the mirror you want to reset by moving the selector to L (Left) or R (Right).
Press the brake pedal and shift into R (Reverse).
After the mirror has finished tilting down, press the up control to move it higher than its previous reverse position. Set it higher than its usual position for driving in P, N or D.
To initialise the setting, shift to a position other than R (Reverse) or move the mirror selector to neutral. The restored position will take effect the next time the mirror operates in reverse.
Repeat steps 1–5 to initialise the setting for the mirror on the other side.
CAUTION
Follow each step in sequence when changing or initialising the Auto reverse settings. Moving on before a step is complete may prevent the mirror angle from being saved or the reset from working correctly.
