Kia Sportage: Trailer Stability Assist (TSA). Brake Assist System (BAS)Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) is a vehicle stability control system designed to help stabilise the Kia Sportage and trailer if the trailer begins to sway or oscillate.
The Brake Assist System (BAS) provides additional brake pressure when the driver presses the brake pedal quickly and firmly in a situation that calls for sudden braking.
By building brake pressure up to the point at which ABS intervenes, BAS can shorten the time before ABS control begins and help reduce braking distance.
BAS operation
Vehicle speed is above 30 km/h (20 mph) and ABS control has not yet started.
The brake pedal is pressed firmly beyond a certain level.
The road surface provides more than a certain level of friction.
When BAS operation ends
Vehicle speed falls below 10 km/h (6 mph).
The brake pedal is pressed under certain conditions.
The road surface provides less than a certain level of friction.
WARNING
BAS operation may vary with the driver’s habits, how firmly the brake pedal is pressed and the condition of the road surface.
