Kia Sportage: Care of seat belts - Seat belts - Seating and safety restraintsKia Sportage: Care of seat belts

Kia Sportage Owner’s Manual (5th Generation, NQ5; 2022+) / Seating and safety restraints / Seat belts / Care of seat belts

Never dismantle or modify the seat belt system. Protect the belts and their components from damage caused by seat hinges, doors or improper handling. Regular care helps ensure that the restraints in your Kia Sportage remain ready to work as intended.

WARNING

Periodic inspection

Inspect all seat belts regularly for wear, damage or other signs of deterioration. Replace any damaged components as soon as possible.

Keep belts clean and dry

Keep seat belts clean and dry. If a belt becomes dirty, clean it with a mild soap solution and warm water. Do not use bleach, dyes, strong detergents or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage and weaken the webbing.

When to replace seat belts

Replace every seat belt assembly that was in use when the vehicle was involved in an accident, even if no damage is visible. Have the replacement carried out by a professional workshop. Kia recommends contacting an authorised Kia dealer/service partner.
