This section provides an overview of the eCall in-vehicle system, including its operation and functions. The eCall service is a publicly available service and can be used free of charge.

Once the vehicle is in the ON state, the eCall in-vehicle system continuously monitors its readiness to make an emergency call. In a severe accident, in-vehicle sensors activate the system automatically.

The system may also be triggered automatically if the vehicle is equipped with a TPS system that does not function during a severe accident.

If needed, you can also activate the eCall in-vehicle system manually. Refer to this section for instructions on manual activation.

If a critical system failure would prevent the eCall in-vehicle system from operating, the occupants receive a warning. Refer to this section for information about that warning.
