Arrangements for Data Processing

The Kia Sportage eCall in-vehicle system is designed so that data stored in its memory cannot be accessed from outside the system before an eCall is triggered. Additional remarks, if any: not applicable.

During normal operation, the eCall in-vehicle system is designed not to be traceable and not to enable continuous tracking. Additional remarks, if any: not applicable.

Data in the system’s internal memory is automatically and continuously deleted.

For normal system operation, vehicle location data is continually overwritten in the internal memory. As a result, the system retains no more than the vehicle’s three most recent locations.

The eCall activity log is retained only for as long as necessary to handle the emergency call and never for more than 13 hours after the emergency eCall is initiated. Additional remarks, if any: not applicable.

How Data Subjects Can Exercise Their Rights

The data subject, who is the vehicle owner, has the right to access their data and, where appropriate, request its correction, deletion, or blocking if it has been processed in a way that does not comply with Directive 95/46/EC. Any third party to whom the data has been disclosed must be notified of a correction, deletion, or blocking carried out in accordance with that Directive, unless notification is impossible or would require disproportionate effort.

The data subject may lodge a complaint with the competent data protection authority if they believe their rights have been infringed through the processing of their personal data.

Contact details for the service responsible for handling access requests, if available: not applicable.
