Kia Sportage Owner’s Manual (5th Generation, NQ5; 2022+) / What to Do in an Emergency / Emergency Equipment: If Equipped

The Kia Sportage may include emergency equipment to help you respond to an incident. Check which items are fitted to your vehicle and familiarise yourself with their location and use.

Fire Extinguisher

If a small fire occurs and you know how to use the extinguisher, follow these steps carefully:

  1. Pull the pin at the top of the extinguisher.
  2. Point the nozzle at the base of the fire.
  3. Stand approximately 2.5 m (8 ft) away and squeeze the handle to discharge the extinguisher. Releasing the handle stops the discharge.
  4. Sweep the nozzle from side to side across the base of the fire. Once the flames appear to be out, watch the area closely because the fire may reignite.

First Aid Kit

The kit contains items such as scissors and adhesive bandages for basic first aid.

Triangle Reflector

Place the triangle reflector on the road to warn approaching traffic.

Tyre Pressure Gauge

Use the gauge to check tyre pressure as follows:

  1. Unscrew the cap from the tyre inflation valve.
  2. Press the gauge firmly against the tyre valve and hold it in place.
  3. A firm, leak-free connection activates the gauge.
    • Read the pressure displayed to determine whether the tyre is underinflated or overinflated.
  4. Adjust the pressure to the specified value.
  5. Refit the inflation valve cap.
