Kia Sportage: Over-The-Air software update: (if equipped)The Over-The-Air (OTA) feature lets you update the Kia Sportage software wirelessly. It helps keep the vehicle's systems current without requiring a wired connection.
The latest software can download automatically while you drive. Once the download is complete, a notification appears on your phone or the vehicle screen to let you know that the update is ready to install.

|
After the vehicle is switched off, the system allows you to begin installing the downloaded update.
Select Update Now (1) to start the installation.
Select Later (2) to postpone it.

The exterior lights must be off.
The bonnet must be closed.
The battery must have sufficient charge.

The Kia Sportage displays the software update progress on the screen. When installation is complete, a notification will appear on your phone or on the vehicle screen.
TIP
To conserve battery power, the screen switches off automatically after 3 minutes. If this happens, press the ENGINE START/STOP button to check the update progress.
You may leave the vehicle after the update has started.
Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates are available only to Kia Connect service users.
The update details may differ according to the software version installed in your vehicle.
For information about OTA software updates, check the notice on the Kia website.
If an update fails, the system will automatically attempt recovery. If you want to try the update again after recovery completes successfully, contact an authorised Kia call centre.
If the update or recovery process is unsuccessful, contact a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.
An update may add features or improve existing functions. For details, visit the Kia website or scan the QR code displayed on the infotainment screen.
NOTE
The following restrictions apply while the update is in progress:
The vehicle cannot be driven or used during the update. Allow enough time for the process and park the Kia Sportage safely before starting.
Remote functions, including remote start, are unavailable.
The vehicle cannot be charged during the update. Charge it after installation is complete.
Rear Occupant Alert may be unavailable. Check the rear seats for occupants after the update begins.
The update will be cancelled automatically if a vehicle condition required for installation changes before the process starts.
Once installation has begun, the update cannot be cancelled.
OTA updates are unavailable if vehicle software has been modified or replaced.
Do not open the bonnet or replace the vehicle battery during an update, as this may cause the process to fail.
The high-voltage module that charges the 12 V battery may operate during the software update.
The vehicle cannot be updated while a diagnostic tool is connected to the OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) port. Remove the tool, then restart the vehicle before attempting the update again.
If the update does not complete successfully, contact Kia for assistance.
The vehicle must be identified through the reception process before downloaded software can be installed safely.
For safe installation of downloaded software, the vehicle signal strength must be strong, above -82 dBm.
