After fitting the blade, lower the arm onto the rear windscreen. Turn the ignition to ON and operate
the wiper to confirm that the blade is installed correctly.
Gently try to pull the blade assembly to check that it is firmly secured.
Tip
To help prevent damage to the wiper arms and related components, have the wiper blades replaced by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.
Caution
Do not use petrol, kerosene, paint thinner or other solvents on or near the wiper blades.
Do not try to move the wipers by hand.
Use only the specified type of wiper blade. An unsuitable blade may malfunction or fail.
Do not let a raised wiper arm fall against the windscreen; the impact may chip or crack the glass.
Applying excessive force to the wiper arm while pulling off the blade can damage its centre section.
The wipers may not operate for approximately 10 seconds if they are switched on without washer fluid or while the blades are frozen. This is not a malfunction: the wiper motor’s overload protection system has been activated.
When cleaning the front windscreen, raise the wiper blades and rinse the glass with a water hose, then wipe it with a clean towel. Also clean the blades if grease or wax has been applied to them.
Note
Commercial hot waxes used by automatic car washes can make the windscreen harder to clean. Kia Sportage owners are responsible for washing and maintaining the vehicle with suitable methods and materials.
If the Engine Overheats
TIP
If the temperature gauge indicates that the engine is overheating, you may notice reduced power or a loud pinging or
knocking noise. These symptoms can indicate that the engine is too hot.
