Kia Sportage: Airbag collision sensors
|
|
Sensor locations and available equipment may vary according to the Kia Sportage trim, selected options and region.
WARNING
Do not strike areas where air bags or their sensors are installed, and do not allow objects to hit them. An impact in these areas could trigger unexpected air bag deployment and cause serious or fatal injury.
Changing the position or angle of an air bag sensor may cause an air bag to deploy when it should not, or fail to deploy when it should. Either outcome could result in serious or fatal injury.
Do not attempt to service the sensors or work around them. Have the SRS inspected or serviced by a professional workshop. Kia recommends contacting an authorised Kia dealer/service partner.
Deformation of the front bumper, vehicle body or B-pillar, where side-impact sensors are installed, may alter sensor alignment and affect system operation. If any of these areas are damaged, have the system checked by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer/service partner.
The Kia Sportage is designed to absorb impact and deploy its air bags in certain collisions. When fitting a bumper guard or replacing a bumper, use Kia Genuine Parts or parts of an equivalent standard. Other parts may adversely affect the vehicle's collision performance and air bag deployment.
If equipped with a rollover sensor: If the vehicle has side and curtain air bags, set it to OFF or ACC and wait 3 minutes before towing.
The side or curtain air bags may deploy if the vehicle is in ON, or within 3 minutes after being switched to OFF, and the rollover sensor interprets the situation as a rollover.
