Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist disabled

Kia Sportage instrument cluster message indicating the rear corner radar is blocked

A: Driver Assistance system limited. Radar blocked.

Snow, rain or other material covering the rear bumper around a rear corner radar can interfere with detection. A trailer, carrier or similar attachment may also affect radar performance. In these conditions, BCA may be temporarily limited or switched off.

A warning message and the Master Warning Light appear on the instrument cluster while the system is limited. This message alone does not mean that BCA has malfunctioned.

After removing the obstruction or attachment, restart the Kia Sportage. BCA should then operate normally if the obstruction was the cause.

If BCA still does not work correctly after the material or attachment has been removed and the vehicle restarted, arrange an inspection at a qualified workshop. Kia recommends contacting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.

WARNING

  • BCA may not work correctly even when no warning message is shown on the instrument cluster.

  • Immediately after the vehicle is switched on, BCA may not detect objects in some areas, such as open terrain. The system may also be unable to operate correctly if a detecting sensor is covered by foreign material at start-up.

CAUTION

Switch BCA off before fitting or removing a trailer, carrier or other attachment. Once the installation or removal is complete, switch BCA back on.
