SCC can operate when all of the following conditions are met:
The gear is in D (Drive).
Your speed is within the applicable operating range:
10–200 km/h (5–125 mph) when there is no vehicle ahead.
0–200 km/h (0–125 mph) when a vehicle is detected ahead.
Electronic Stability Control (ESC) or the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) is on.
SCC does not operate in any of these situations:
The driver’s door is open.
Engine speed is high.
The Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) is applied.
ESC or ABS is controlling the vehicle.
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist is controlling the brakes.
Remote Smart Parking Assist is controlling the brakes, if equipped.
NOTE
When the Kia Sportage is stopped behind another vehicle, you can switch SCC on while keeping the brake pedal depressed.
Overtake Acceleration Assist function
Overtake Acceleration Assist can operate while SCC is active when you switch on the turn signal in the direction used to overtake: the left signal in a left-hand-drive vehicle or the right signal in a right-hand-drive vehicle. The following conditions must also be met:
Your vehicle is travelling above 60 km/h (40 mph).
A vehicle is detected ahead.
Overtake Acceleration Assist does not operate in either of these situations:
The hazard warning flashers are on.
The vehicle is slowing down to maintain its distance from the vehicle ahead.
WARNING
When the turn signal is switched on to overtake, the Kia Sportage may accelerate temporarily. Stay alert and pay attention to road and traffic conditions.
Overtake Acceleration Assist operates according to the stated conditions, regardless of which side of the road your country uses. If you use the function in a country with a different driving direction, check the road conditions carefully.
