Kia Sportage: Turning on Smart Cruise Control![]() |
Press the Driving Assist button to activate Smart Cruise Control (SCC). The current vehicle speed shown on the instrument cluster becomes the set speed.
If no vehicle is detected ahead, the Kia Sportage maintains the set speed.
If a vehicle is detected ahead, SCC may adjust your speed to maintain the selected following distance. If the vehicle ahead accelerates, your vehicle can accelerate and then continue at the set cruising speed.
NOTE
If you activate SCC while travelling between 0 and 30 km/h (0 and 20 mph), the set speed becomes 30 km/h (20 mph).
If you select a lower gear, the vehicle may not reach the set speed.
Setting the following distance
![]() |
Each press of the Vehicle Distance button changes the selected gap to the vehicle ahead:
|
At a vehicle speed of 90 km/h (56 mph), the approximate following distances are:
Distance 4: approximately 52.5 m (172 ft)
Distance 3: approximately 40 m (130 ft)
Distance 2: approximately 32.5 m (106 ft)
Distance 1: approximately 25 m (82 ft)
NOTE
The selected following distance is retained when the Kia Sportage is restarted or after SCC has been temporarily cancelled.
Increasing the set speed
![]() |
Move the (+) switch up briefly and release it to increase the set speed by 1 km/h (1 mph).
To increase the speed more quickly, move the (+) switch up and hold it while monitoring the set speed on the instrument cluster. The speed first changes to the nearest multiple of ten, then increases in 10 km/h (5 mph) increments with each continued operation.
The maximum set speed is 200 km/h (125 mph).
WARNING
Check traffic and road conditions before using the (+) switch. Holding it up can cause the Kia Sportage’s speed to increase sharply.
Decreasing the set speed
![]() |
Move the (−) switch down briefly and release it to reduce the set speed by 1 km/h (1 mph).
To lower the speed more quickly, move the (−) switch down and hold it while monitoring the set speed on the instrument cluster. The speed first changes to the nearest multiple of ten, then decreases in 10 km/h (5 mph) increments with each continued operation.
The minimum set speed is 30 km/h (20 mph).
