Kia Sportage: Panorama Sunroof (If Equipped)If your Kia Sportage has a panorama sunroof, use the switch in the overhead console to slide or tilt the sunroof.

The sunroof operates when the ignition switch or ENGINE START/STOP button is in the ON or
START position.
For approximately three minutes after the ignition switch or ENGINE START/STOP button is moved to ACC or
LOCK/OFF, the sunroof may still operate. It cannot be operated during this period if a front door is
open.
WARNING
Operate the sunroof only while the Kia Sportage is stationary. Using it while driving may distract you or interfere with vehicle control and cause an accident.
Even when leaving the vehicle briefly, switch off the ignition and take the key with you so children cannot operate the sunroof.
Do not sit on the roof or place heavy objects on it. This may damage the sunroof.
NOTE
Do not operate the sunroof when roof bars are installed or luggage is being carried on the roof.

The power sunshade helps block direct sunlight entering through the sunroof glass.
Push the sunroof switch rearward to the first detent to open the sunshade automatically.
Push the switch forward to the first detent to close the sunshade automatically. If the sunroof glass is open, it closes before the sunshade.
To stop the sunshade at any point, push the sunroof switch in any direction.
NOTE
Do not pull or push the power sunshade by hand. This may damage it or cause it to malfunction.
TIP
Small wrinkles in the power sunshade may occur because of the material and are normal.

Push the sunroof switch upward to tilt the glass open. If the power sunshade is closed, it opens first.
When the glass is tilted open, push the switch upward or forward to close it automatically.
To stop the sunroof while it is moving, push the switch in any direction.

Push the switch rearward to the first detent to open the sunroof glass. If the power sunshade is closed, it opens first. Push the switch forward to the first detent to close the glass. If the glass is already closed, the power sunshade closes.
Push the switch fully forward or rearward to the second detent to close or open the sunroof glass and power sunshade together.

If the power sunshade or sunroof glass detects an obstacle while closing automatically, it will reverse direction and then stop at a set position. This feature helps protect the Kia Sportage interior and its occupants, but it may not detect a thin or soft object caught between the moving panel and the sunroof frame.
WARNING
Before operating the sunroof, make sure that heads, hands, arms and other body parts, as well as any objects, are clear of its path. They could become trapped, causing injury or damage to the vehicle.
Never use your body to test the automatic reversal feature. Although the power sunshade or sunroof glass may reverse, contact with the moving panel can still cause injury.
NOTE
Stop pressing the sunroof switch once the sunroof is fully open, fully closed or tilted. Holding the switch after it reaches its limit could damage the motor.
Repeatedly operating the sunroof, including sliding or tilting it open and closed, may cause the motor or sunroof system to malfunction.
Remove dust that collects on the sunroof rails regularly. Dust between the sunroof and roof panel can create noise; open the sunroof and wipe the area with a clean cloth.
Do not try to open the sunroof in freezing temperatures or when it is covered with snow or ice. It may not operate correctly, and forcing it open could cause damage.
After rain or washing the Kia Sportage, do not open the sunroof or drive with the glass open straight away. Water could enter the cabin.
Do not carry luggage with any part extending through the sunroof while driving. If the vehicle stops suddenly, the load could cause damage.
WARNING
While driving, do not extend your head, arms or any other body parts through the sunroof, and do not allow objects to protrude through it. A sudden stop could result in injury or damage.

The sunroof on your Kia Sportage may need to be reset in certain situations, including:
After the 12-volt battery has been disconnected or discharged.
After the sunroof fuse has been replaced.
If the sunroof one-touch AUTO OPEN/CLOSE function does not operate correctly.
Sunroof resetting procedure
Kia recommends carrying out the reset with the engine running. Start the vehicle and select P (Park).
Check that the power sunshade and sunroof glass are fully closed. If either is open, press the switch forward until both are completely closed.
Release the switch once the power sunshade and sunroof glass are fully closed.
Press the switch forward until the power sunshade and sunroof glass move slightly, then release it.
Press and hold the sunroof switch forward again. Keep holding it while the power sunshade and sunroof glass slide open and then close; release the switch only after the movement is complete.
If you release the switch before the operation finishes, restart the procedure from step 2.
TIP
If the sunroof is not reset after the vehicle battery is disconnected or discharged, or after the sunroof fuse blows, it may not operate normally.
|
If you switch off the engine while the sunroof is not fully closed, a warning chime will sound for several seconds and a sunroof-open message will appear on the instrument cluster display.
Before leaving the Kia Sportage, check that the sunroof is fully closed.
CAUTION
Make sure the sunroof is completely closed whenever you leave the vehicle. Rain or snow could enter and wet the interior if it is left open. An open sunroof may also make the unattended vehicle more vulnerable to theft.
