A: Collision warning
If SEW detects a vehicle approaching from behind, the warning indicator in the outside rearview mirror flashes, a message appears on the instrument cluster, and an audible alert sounds.
Safe Exit Warning may issue an alert when both of these conditions are met:
Your vehicle is travelling below 3 km/h (2 mph).
The vehicle approaching from behind is travelling above 6 km/h (4 mph).
WARNING
For your safety, change the settings only after parking the Kia Sportage in a safe place.
If another function displays a warning message or sounds an alert at the same time, the SEW message or audible warning may not appear or be heard.
Noise in the surrounding area may make the SEW alert difficult to hear. Set the vehicle audio volume appropriately and remain attentive to your surroundings.
SEW may not operate in every situation and cannot prevent every collision.
Depending on traffic and driving conditions, SEW may issue a warning late or may not issue one. Always check the area around the vehicle before opening a door.
The driver and passengers are responsible for checking for hazards before leaving the vehicle. Look for approaching traffic and other potential dangers before opening a door.
NOTE
After the vehicle is switched off, SEW remains active for approximately three minutes. It switches off immediately if the doors are locked.
The appearance and colours of the images may differ depending on the instrument cluster specifications or selected theme.
